President Bush Lifts Steel Tariffs
In an effort to avoid a threatened trade war with Europe and Asia, President Bush announced earlier this month that he would repeal the tariffs on foreign steel imposed March 2002 and originally scheduled to remain in effect until 2005. The move has re-opened the door to cheaper steel prices — as well as other metals — but has angered a struggling American steel industry.
