Meet Mitch Lehigh

As an AFT Engineering Manager, Mitch is responsible for both the product and manufacturing engineering groups for Metal Injection Molding (MIM) U.S. business unit. The product engineering group is responsible for the new part development process, which involves taking a customer blueprint and creating a finished part. The manufacturing engineering group is responsible for troubleshooting, cost savings, and scrap recovery while supporting the new part development process.

"This is a very challenging role," Mitch said, "that allows me to interact with just about every position throughout the company. Although the challenge can be stressful, the reward certainly lies in seeing the finished products that our team is able to produce."

Mitch has filled several roles during his ten years with PCC - Precision Castparts Corporation, the parent company of AFT. After earning a Masters Degree in Material Science and Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh, he started out as a Materials Engineer in PCC's Composites business unit in Pittsburgh. Over the next three years Mitch worked his way up to plant manager.

His next stop was as a product engineer responsible for developing the GEG and the Honeywell vanes that go into diesel pickup trucks in the United States and diesel passenger cars in Europe. Mitch has been in his current role as AFT Engineering Manager in Longmont, Colorado for about a year.

Mitch's wife, Karen, works in the finance department at AFT, and they have two young girls, Lauren and Katelyn. Mitch's hobbies include golf, fishing, hiking and sports card collecting. According to Mitch, "I pretty much like just about any sport."
