Meet Don Franzen
Don Franzen fits right in with the emphasis on quality in this month's newsletter edition. An 18-year veteran with AFT, Don implemented AFT's first ISO-9001 registration during his career as Quality Assurance Manager from 1988 through 1996. Before starting with AFT he also served as Quality Assurance Manager for a small local plastic injection molding company in Colorado.
Don has been Senior Product Engineer for AFT's ThixoForming Division since 1997. His responsibilities include developing new products and maintaining existing manufactured parts throughout their entire life cycle. Most of his efforts are in the commercial product group, which embraces a wide range of products including power tool components, automobile parts, radar detectors, and optical housings for projection TVs.
In his work Don applies an old adage he learned long ago: "In God we trust, everyone else bring data." Don feels it really applies to making sound decisions in either of the engineering or quality disciplines.
Away from AFT, Don's hobbies are carpentry, fishing and target shooting. His wife Linda recently retired from the St Vrain Valley school district, and recently they finished building their own mountain cabin powered solely by solar energy. Don notes of his four-year project, "So much for the hobbies!"
