NCAA Committee Again Calls for Colorado Time Systems' Equipment at Swimming Championships

The NCAA Division I Swimming and Diving committee is calling for a complete CTS timing system to be used for the Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at Purdue University in March 2005. As it was last year, the issue is electronic relay judging, which the NCAA requires for relay swimming events at the Division I Championship level.

"Everything centered around the availability of the relay judging platforms (RJPs)," said NCAA Director of Championships, Wayne Burrow.

To ensure compatibility with the RJPs, the committee determined that a complete CTS timing system was the most reliable choice.

"The committee determined it was important to go with a product that is tested. When we have a national championship meet, we want to be sure our athletes and coaches are comfortable with the environment and the equipment," Borrow said. "For the last couple of years, we've used the CTS relay technology, and the coaches have become confident in the RJPs."

RJPs from Colorado Time Systems have been used at both the men's and women's championships since 2002. In 2002 and 2003, both the men's and women's championships were hosted by facilities with CTS equipment. Last year and this year, the hosts of the women's championships had a different brand of timing system installed, and the NCAA called for a complete CTS timing system.

CTS has had relay judging platforms for more than a decade. Until recently, most were used in the United States and internationally as a training tool. The U.S., Canadian and Chinese Olympic teams, among others, have used CTS RJPs in training.

A complete Colorado Time Systems timing system will also be used at the Division I Men's Swimming and Diving Championships at the University of Minnesota in March 2005.
