Got COM port?

With most new computers, a built-in 9-pin COM port is a thing of the past. This can prevent your meet management downloads from reaching your timing console, prevent your timing console from sending the meet information back to your computer and prevent upgrading or reinstalling your timing console software.

To resolve this, Colorado Time Systems suggests the use of a USB-to-COM port adaptor. This adaptor can be found at most computer supply stores, and we recommend the Belkin brand adaptors for this use. The most typical COM port settings will apply to the setup of the USB adaptor. These settings are: 9600 bits per second, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit and no flow control.

Use a 9-pin RS-232 cable with a straight through pin configuration and a male end on one end and a female end on the other.
