China Nationals

The 2006 Chinese National Swim Championships concluded in LuoYang, China, May 12 – 17, 2006.

The Results

In the men's competition, a handful of athletes took home two gold medals each. Zhou Jiawei won both the 50-meter freestyle and butterfly races. In the backstroke, Zhang Bodong claimed victory in the 100 and 200 meters races. Zhang Lin won in the 400 and 1500-meter freestyle races. And Zhao Tao came out on top in the independent medley races, claiming gold in the 200 and 400-meter races.

Four athletes dominated the women's competition — the top three claimed three gold medals each, and the fourth earned two. In the backstroke, Zhao Jing wrapped up the gold in the 50, 100 and 200 meter races. Yang Jieqiao placed first in the 200, 400 and 800-meter freestyles. Finally, Qi Hui led the way in the 100 and 200-meter breaststroke.

CTS Technical Specialist Jon Platt ran the equipment side of the meet and trained Chinese timer operators.

"The swim meet went very well," he said. "The Chinese officials are all very friendly and appreciated us being at their meet."
