How To Update Your System 6

One advantage of the System 6 is the ease of updating the System. There are two ways to update the System 6. First, you can download the programs manually (from our website) and install them onto the System 6 using a Floppy Disk. Second, you can connect the System 6 directly to the internet (via your local network) and download the updates automatically. The Internet Connection Method is recommended if a network connection is available.

Internet Connection Method

With the System 6 turned off, use a standard CAT 5 Ethernet cable and connect the System 6 to your network. Power on the System 6. From the Sport Loader menu, press the "Network" softkey. If you are running on a home network, or your institution supports DCHP (ask your network administrator), press the "Obtain Dynamic IP" softkey. The System 6 will automatically configure the network settings.

If you are at an institution with more restrictive parameters for accessing the network, contact your network administrator for assistance. Once the System 6 is connected (you can test the connection by pressing "More" under the "Network" menu then selected "Test Connection"), from the main menu, press the "Install" softkey, then press "Install from Server." At this point, the System 6 will query the update server and download the newest versions of each program you have purchased on your System 6.

Floppy Disk Update Method

First, determine the versions of software currently installed on your System 6. To find the version number for Sport Loader, press the "Diagnostics" softkey (you may have to press "More" first). The sport loader version is located on the right-hand side of the first line in the diagnostic screen. To determine the version for each sport, load the sport and find "Software Version" under the "Misc" menu.

Go to our web site (http://www.coloradotime.com) and browse to "Downloadable Software and Updates" located in the "Help and Support" section. Compare the version numbers listed and download any necessary updates to your hard drive. Copy each file downloaded to a separate floppy disk. Place each disk in your System 6 and press "Update from Floppy" under the "Install" menu in Sport Loader. The System 6 will transfer the file from the floppy and install it.
