Campbell County, Wyoming Stays on the Cutting Edge
 Gillette, Wyoming, while not the largest of cities, displays an extraordinary commitment to their community and schools, which is evident by their recent addition of Colorado Time Systems products to their aquatic center.
Video Board and Equipment
The Campbell County School Aquatic Center, which serves as the home for the Campbell County High School swim teams, recently purchased a variety of products from CTS, most notably a 12 mm 192 x 336-pixel video board, making their aquatic center the only aquatic facility in the nation with a 12 mm video board.

 The video board is just the latest addition to the Campbell County Aquatic Center, which has been using CTS products since its inception in 1982. CTS products can be found throughout the facility, and include a tri-color matrix scoreboard, a System 6, touchpads, backup buttons, and a Championship Start System along with the new Olympex Video board. The video board is mostly used during competitive meets, when it entertains the audience with video gathered from three cameras shooting the action in the pool along with four underwater cameras, which provide a unique perspective to the race.
 Having access to instant video replays has proven to be vital training tool for the swimming and diving teams, who use the board during practice to analyze and correct their form—this is made possible by the extremely high resolution of the video board, which allows the athlete to clearly see which areas of their technique need correcting.
Commitment to Excellence
Gillette has earned the nickname of “The Energy Capital of the Nation” due to the large amounts of oil and coal found in the area, and the county and the school district have focused that success into a commitment to academic and athletic excellence. The fact that both the boys and girls swim teams from Campbell County High School have won the last two state championships serves as evidence to the amount of recent success for the school.
In order to provide their elite athletes with elite facilities, the school district has turned to CTS to provide their aquatic center with state-of-the-art equipment. The aquatic center is a facility run by the school district, and services the entire district, which is comprised of three high schools, three junior high schools and thirteen elementary schools.
The main purpose of the aquatic center is for a learn-to-swim program instituted by the district; every student in the district is required to attend swimming lessons. In total, close to 600 students a day are bused to the aquatic center for swimming lessons.
“This board is the next step in enhancing the experience for the athletes, parents, and students,” said Pat Kirk, the Campbell County School District Aquatics Director. “It brings us to the next level of competition.” Campbell County School District’s new video board functions not only as a source of entertainment for spectators, but also a powerful training tool that is, according to Kirk, “part of a partnership in producing great dives and great times.” |
