Pay Off: 50% Increase in Newsletter Signups
When the Society for Certified Senior
Advisors (SCSA) launched its marketing eNewsletter with Proven Systems
less than a year ago, it had about 10,000 email newsletter subscribers.
Today it boasts an impressive 25,000 subscribers.
How did they go from 10,000 to 25,000 in less than a year? With
some advice from the Proven Systems team and by implementing five easy
changes, SCSA made the increase happen. Here's how:
- Educated the SCSA sales team on the importance of asking new prospects
if they would like to receive the newsletter.
- Placed ads in trade publications that invited people to subscribe to
the newsletter by simply sending their business cards to SCSA.
- Requested business cards from people at trade shows who expressed interest
in SCSA. They essentially traded the business cards for a newsletter
subscription
- Prospects that had missing email information were mailed postcards
inviting them to subscribe to the newsletter.
- SCSA persuaded several companies to offer the SCSA newsletter to their
email lists if the clients would likely benefit from the information.
The monthly email newsletter enables SCSA to communicate with clients
and prospects on a regular basis. And by taking advantage of powerful statistics
software, SCSA monitors the types of articles subscribers are looking at.
With this useful data, sales representatives can contact subscribers with
targeted marketing efforts geared toward their unique interests in the
prospect's timeframe.
In addition, the number of prospects reading the newsletter and clicking
through to the SCSA web site has more than doubled. According to
Dan Danbom, the company is now talking to more prospects due to the newsletter. And
the best thing is that the cost of the newsletter does not increase while
the subscription rate skyrockets. Life can't get much better
than that for a marketing professional.
