Views/Clicks Reports Take the Mystery out of Understanding Customers' and Prospects' Needs

Understanding the needs and preferences of your customers and prospects can sometimes seem as complicated as deciphering the genetic code. Fortunately, when marketing online, you have tools at your disposal that make the job easier — tools that are not available when you use traditional marketing methods, like direct mail.

For example, when your marketing program includes eNewsletters, you may have access to software such as the views/clicks reports offered by Proven Systems.

Think of views/clicks reports as a close up view at each individual reader's fingerprints. Each eNewsletter reader's fingerprint will be different. Tracking your recipient's viewing habits allows you to know which services your recipients are interested in by the unique actions taken.

Armed with the data views/clicks reports offer, you can evaluate an individual reader's response to your eNewsletter or look at the overall affect of the eNewsletter's reach and impact.

Deciphering the Code

You may learn, for example that:

  • Ron Nobhouse viewed your eNewsletter one time and during that one visit clicked on all seven articles.
  • Simon Mettee viewed your eNewsletter once, clicked on two areas, and then forwarded it to a coworker.
  • Jean Ludden viewed the newsletter once and deleted it without making any clicks. Warning: Don't read this delete as a negative outcome! The fact that Jean opened it means you were successful in getting your message in front of this customer. She may have been too busy to read this issue or she may have scanned the topics and saw nothing that struck her interest this time. But since Jean did not unsubscribe to your eNewsletter, she clearly is still interested in hearing from you in the future.
