New Release Highlights

Release 1.70 was posted on March 24. Major benefits incorporated since the 1.60 release include:

• Concurrent Workspaces. The new concurrent type of workspace allows for file manipulation without the need to first set locks or change file modes. Concurrent workspaces set all files to be writable, automatically tracking file changes within the workspace. The snapshot is not notified of pending changes. While locks can be set, they are not needed to make changes to files. A concurrent workspace allows tools that do not like read-only files and that do not understand version control, to work problem-free. A concurrent workspace also simplifies the use of version control, as users no longer need to set locks before making changes or performing check-ins.
  
  The older locking type of workspace (which remains as the default type) sets files to read-only status in an effort to prevent changes. It makes them writable only when locked. And because of the file locks, other users can see pending changes to the snapshot.  
• Improved external diff and merge tool support. You can now integrate three-way and two-way external merge tools, and differencing tools into SnapshotCM.  
• Improved snapshot to snapshot copy flexibility. You can copy changes from one snapshot to any other more directly than you could in earlier releases. See the new Copy Changes To ... menu selections to give it a try.  
• Files Needing Action. A new Workspace Browser filter, Files Needing Action, provides an at-a-glance view of all pending actions. We've added several other new filter options as well.  
• Workspace Browser Refresh. You can now disable automatic refresh (see Project->Options Workspace).  Refresh is automatically disabled when modal dialog boxes are active.
