2Checkout.com Protected Networks

With a unique approach to Internet-based sales, 2Checkout.com, Inc., located in Columbus, Ohio uses real-time inventory management solutions to bring customers together with a global supplier network. 2Checkout.com provides Internet retailers with a variety of services such as assistance with payments, fraud management and customer service solutions. Since their business relies on Internet response times, 2Checkout.com needs to be up and running. They cannot afford downtime due to Denial of Service (DoS) and Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attacks that incapacitate their networks.

2Checkout.com turned to Time Warner Telecom's Managed Security Services to protect their network from attack. These services offer more than traditional firewalls and other protection devices. Network-based Managed Security Service filters unauthorized traffic at the Time Warner Telecom Internet connection point. Attacks are detected and mitigated before the customer link is even established, allowing 2Checkout.com to fully utilize their Internet access. Communications to and from the Internet over local loops are cleaner, faster and more efficient.

"The added layer of security and reliability that Time Warner Telecom's security offering provides is exceeding our expectation," said Alan Homewood, CEO, 2Checkout.com. "This is a great resource for smaller companies that have meager IT resources, or for larger companies that desire another level of security."

Certain industries with mandated privacy acts like HIPAA, and GLB may be required to provide premise-to-premise data encryption. A network firewall that deals with threats before a customer has linked to the Internet is unique in the industry.

Time Warner Telecom's Managed Security Service provides a dedicated team of local and national experts who offer robust and scalable solutions, such as Layer 3 Stateful Packet Inspection (L3SPI) firewall to protect 65,535 IP ports. They also offer a solution to meet specific customer network protection requirements and provide scalability for the customer's underlying Internet connectivity.

When working with Time Warner Telecom, customers can expect an initial expert security consultation, on-site installation, five free security policy changes per month, executive reporting of security incidences, 24-hour service monitoring and response by the Security Operations Center.   Services are available in the 44 U.S. metropolitan areas where Time Warner Telecom offers integrated data, dedicated Internet access and local and long distance voice services.

According to Network Magazine, Time Warner Telecom was named the number one ISP in 2003. A commitment to overall customer value is just one of the reasons IT managers mentioned when bestowing this award.
