Spartacus Artificial Disc Project Update

US Spine's Spartacus Artificial Disc Project continues to make great strides! In a recent product development committee meeting at AANS in San Francisco, US Spine's technology partner, Sparta Composites, reported significant accomplishments with the program. Of particular note:

  • Prototype parts have been successfully fabricated and tested.
  • The desired non-linear load/deflection trend was achieved.
  • The Analytical Model correlated well with the empirical results.

The objective of the US Spine Artificial Disc Program is to:

Create an Artificial Disc designed to replicate the physiologic movement of the native human spinal disc. One that:

  • Allows for axial compression and more natural function in flexion, extension, lateral bending, and rotation.
  • Utilizes a newer, more beneficial material technology.
  • Is a true advancement in motion preservation technology.

Look for future updates regarding this exciting next generation technology!
